Soul of Rasa

The word “Rasa” was first used in ancient Vedic literature, and means “essence or taste”. In the arts, this concept refers to a work’s aesthetic flavor, and to the emotions and feelings that the work evokes, but that can’t be easily described in words.

Thinking along the lines of Rasa, the primary objective of the performing arts is not entertainment — it is supposed to bring the audience to an alternative reality, where they can experience the essence of their own consciousness, and reflect on spiritual and moral questions.
