We don’t have a choice.
If you think the street gets any wider because you have money, you’re wrong. If you think the shower gets any hotter, you’re also wrong. Nor does the food stay fresher, the cocktails colder or the sun any warmer…all nonsense sold to you by those who make and take money.
I heard the other day of a medicine needed to keep many folks alive costing twenty thousand dollars a month. Do the math…could you stay alive with that price tag? If so, for how long?
What are we thinking? Instead of making a New Years resolution to get in shape (one which you will NEVER keep) why not make one that in the coming year you WILL make a difference. Even if you’re fat, old, or poor you can and should get off your ass and make things happen. Let your voice be heard. If you are so inclined make your charitable donations where they will matter. Realize on your own that if you don’t do something soon you might not be able to do anything. Either the powers that be will not allow you that privilege or you might change your feeble mind, or… I hate to say it, you will be dead. (Sorry but we all will be at sometime)
Suggestion: support local non-profits who are suffering from the government ’s activities and their huge funding cuts. Support art institutions, they need help. Support them by going and immersing yourself and your treasured ones in an art experience, perhaps even once a week. Many are free and many are pretty damn good. Become an active citizen, go to meetings even though you don’t want to…who does? Someone has to, make it a priority.
A small price to pay knowing that you are/will be involved, and that when you bitch and moan about what the Government is doing, at least you can say, “I fight those rotten bastards”, or any other words you may substitute .
Forget the word ‘disabled’. Use the words ‘otherly abled’. Start thinking of people instead of what they look like or how they are wired.
Finally if you love this country, hate the current regime but still look for a better tomorrow, fly the flag.
