Married, Living Together, or Staying Single

Staying single and living alone comes in last. While it’s easier to pursue your own interests and you have fewer responsibilities, you lose all of the aforementioned benefits that come from having a steady companion and intimate partner. It’s also harder to stay socially connected because there aren’t many singles around. The social network of a single person can be extremely fluid, and they have to put in effort to stay active and connected.

When we’re young, we have the energy and the inclination to meet new people and find new activities, but we’re not quite as motivated when we get older. So, singles people can have much more alone time, and that opens them to the risk of feeling disconnected and isolated.

“By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you’ll become happy; if you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher.”
