The irrational side of love.
Romantic love is a wonderful thing. In fact, it’s so wonderful that we hold onto it as an ideal. In our imaginations, the object of our affections is head over heals for us, and we feel the same way. That person is perfect, all the time, under all conditions and circumstances. As an important aspect of that ideal, these feelings will last forever.
Unfortunately, some of the things we believe about romantic love are irrational and dysfunctional, according to social scientists. They can block us from making decisions that are in our best interests or from interpreting situations, and potential partners, accurately.
