Reducing Stress: Daoist Meditation

OK, so you got that much. Now ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?”

One answer should be…Stress Reduction. If you live in 2018-2019 you have stress. Doesn’t matter who or what you are, you have stress. The idea here is not to fight it, but allow it to have less meaning, less influence in the ways you deal with your life.

Daoist thought does not rid you of all stress, but it takes a great deal of it away, and provides methods for creatively dealing with the rest of it.

Daoist meditation is a little different than many other types of Eastern meditation. For one, it does not work solely with the mind, although that is a component of Daoist meditation. It is not just a relaxation practice, though it does also have that function. It is not simply a quest for a higher state of consciousness, but seeks to balance mind, body, and spirit into one unified field. It utilizes all three of these (mind, body, and spirit) as well as the life force energy that animates all living things, which Daoists call qi (pronounced chee).
