Some Facts to Ponder:
- Temperatures will drop, some say by as much as 20 degrees in a very few seconds.
- This will be the first time a solar eclipse has gone from coast to coast since 1918. (Good chance you have never seen one.)
- This is being called by many as the “All American Eclipse” as it will be seen only in the US…the last time an eclipse was seen only in one country was in the 13th century. (Again, you probably missed that one as well.)
- As your mother told you when you were a kid “don’t look directly into the sun it will burn your eyes”. This is also very true of the eclipse. However, the good news is that you can buy a pair of Eclipse glasses which are not very expensive at all. Many pairs start under $5, and Amazon has a ten pack of paper ones that are about $14. (I bought a pair for $2 at the local mini mart!)
- And for those of us into such things, this is actually the third solar eclipse to occur on August 21.
