Treating PTSD

A ground-breaking approach

We often think of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as an affliction triggered by war or some other significant trauma. But psychologists today are finding that PTSD can be triggered by tragic, yet common events, such as the loss of a family member.

This week co-hosts Peter Goldsmith and Bill Wood, Social Studies: Voices Across America, look at PTSD and a groundbreaking therapy to treat it. Neuropsychologist Dr. George Lindenfeld is researching an aural therapy that can help victims separate reality from the events that gave them the disorder in the first place. This is cutting edge science that’s new in the field of Psychology, but Dr. Lindenfeld is having enormous success in his early testing.

The conversation this week was very personal to Peter and Bill. We hope you’ll find it personal to you as well.
