9 Signs your Partner is Emotionally Mature

And why that’s important for a relationship.

When we think about finding a partner, our first inclination is to rely on our hearts. Certainly, romantic love is important, but it’s of limited value for a long-term relationship. Maturity of your partner, and you for that matter, are more important if you expect the relationship to last and grow into something that’s meaningful and satisfying.

Some aspects of maturity are age-related. Age gives you the benefit of experience and the opportunity to learn from your mistakes, which hopefully would then make you better at whatever you’re doing. But then there’s emotional maturity, and that’s not age-related — we’ve all met at least a few childish older adults in our travels.
