Defending Millennials: Part 1

They’re socially undeveloped:

Presumably this is a result of spending too much time online rather than interacting with real people. It’s estimated that by the time Millennials reach their twenties, they’ve spent over 20,000 hours on the internet and over 10,000 hours playing video games.

Each generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.

So, is there any truth to this? Probably some — they’re not perfect, just like the rest of us. But you also have to consider that researchers began making these claims when Millennials were still teenagers, hardly an age to judge who and what a person will finally become. Yet even if it’s all accurate, we Boomers cannot dismiss our role in making them who they are — we raised them.

That said, not all research supports these findings. In fact, many researchers have found that Millennials are similar to other generations in many respects, and any observed differences are likely due to age, experience, maturity, or stage of life rather than to generation. This doesn’t get as much press coverage, because it’s just not newsworthy. The arguments disputing these claims are as follows:
