To the best of anyone’s knowledge, golf as we know it started in the very late 15th Century on the eastern coast of Scotland where a couple of tough guys in kilts hit some rocks with wooden sticks and then drank the very whiskey named for the motherland, till they had to return to work the next day.
It is a very different story today. We now have thousands of golf courses all over the world, many catering to the ultra wealthy. There are still many public courses but those are in decline over the past several years.
