The historical record makes it clear that war and conflict are in our nature, possibly genetically programmed in us. While it seems unrealistic and naive, or just outright ridiculous, maybe it’s time to make war illegal. What makes that particularly difficult is having a large military as we do, in part because the industries that support our militart need the clientele, and partly because countries don’t trust each other. A large military makes war a top tier option for resolving conflicts with other nations, and so we’re less likely to find peaceful ways to negotiate solutions to our problems.
