9 Signs your Partner is Emotionally Mature

4. They “own-up”. When they’re at fault, they acknowledge a wrong-doing and won’t try to switch the blame onto their partners. They’re also less prone to lie in order to stay out of trouble, and tend to learn from their mistakes.

5. They’re effective communicators. During conflicts, they focus on finding solutions to problems and don’t seek to escalate arguments or head into reciprocity (“you do this”; “yeah, well, you do that”), avoid abusive language, insults, and a denigrating tone. And they regard problems as something they own together with their partners. A person who deals with conflicts in that way is regarded as approachable and caring, and won’t try to avoid conflicts because they believe they’re constructive. When a disagreement ends, emotions de-escalate and partners come to an understanding they both can live with. They’re likely to feel they’ve accomplished something together and that gives them a reason to feel good about their relationship.
