No gas, can’t put any in if you wanted to. Electric car, charges right from the wall socket, well, sort of. When we brought the car home after a good long drive I plugged it into a wall outlet in the garage. Then I tapped my phone and the charging port opened and I then inserted the plug and here we were charging…what could be easier. True, it was easy, sort of. If you plug it into a wall socket with your standard home-power configuration the car will charge completely. The problem is… it will take you about 32 hours…not so great. Especially if you charge it on a long trip…might need to book an extra night at the Wonderland Motel.
Problem can be solved by putting in a 240 line and a super charger and that will cut the time to about 4-5 hours. That means once a week after work you charge it, wake up, unplug, you are good to go for another week.
Now, I learned all this after the fact. I did not know that you could use your phone and the Tesla app for all this and was using a key card that Tesla provides. You simply run the card over the center door post — it opens. You get in and go.
Sound like fun right? Wrong!
