Mont St. Michele — 18 Miles
Mont St. Michele is the most visited site in France after Paris and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mount sits on an outcrop of rock in the middle of the bay. The current causeway was built in 1880. Before that, access to the town was dangerous, with quicksands and rapidly moving water courses. Even today, the bay has some of the most extreme tidal variations in the world, and it is recommended that you walk out across it with an experienced guide.
