And because I’m watching the road, I have never really seen the panoramic views that are enjoyed by my passengers. I’m often reminded that it’s spectacular — someone in the back seat would offer, “Wow! Did you see that?” I would say no. Then, “Isn’t that magnificent?” I would answer, I don’t know. Anyone who has been behind the wheel on the Amalfi Coast road has the same experience. When I asked a friend of mine who had been driving behind me what he thought of the coastline, he said, “I can’t tell you about that, but I have memorized your license plate.”
