Defending Millennials: Part 1

From the parents’ perspective, they understand the economic problems faced by their children. Boomer parents are ready to provide them with practical help, more so than previous generations, such as letting them stay in their homes, taking care of their children, and assisting in home improvement projects. That assistance has added to the emotional bonds between the generations, and hopefully will pay handsome dividends for Boomers when they will need caring for in their later years.

They’re very socially connected:

All the hours spent online didn’t replace time spent with friends or in outside the home activities — it replaces time watching TV. When Boomers were their age, they watched about 22 hours of TV per week, and they did it passively. Millennials watch much less TV — they had too many activities organized for them by their parents. And even when they do, they’re usually doing something else at the same time — they’re actively engaged on their computer, exchanging information within their social network.
