That video was posted on March 9, 2018, and by the 12th of March the number of views had surpassed 6.6 million. Now, let’s get beyond the branding of the Red Bull Formula One team and its driver Max Verstappen driving the car down the ski slope. And let’s get beyond the Red Bull TV logo in the upper right hand corner. That’s 6.6 million views in three days!

Certainly the video is captivating. A high performance racing machine “skiing” down a slope in Kitzbühel, Austria makes for a great watch. Hearing the engine revving in the background is even more hypnotizing.  But 6.6 million views is equivalent to a three or four television rating, something that’s equal to a popular NASCAR race, taking the Daytona 500 as an example, or even some popular sitcoms.

According to ESPN, the Daytona 500 on FOX averaged 9,781,000 across all platforms, peaking at more than 11.5 million viewers. According to Nielsen, more than 18.1 million viewers watched all or part of the Great American Race.
