Capannelle is right in the heart of Chianti land, on the edge of Gaiole in Chianti. This is a mid-sized producer, with some distribution in the U.S.. The winery really is a special place — it’s position on top of a hill offers panoramic views of the countryside, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped with comfortable seating so you can soak it all in. Even if you hate wine, Capannelle is worth a visit, just for the ambiance — order a coke and have a seat in the garden (Just kidding, I don’t think you could do that.)
Here we arranged for lunch with wine pairings, which is something the owners like you to do — first, they can charge you more, a lot more, but more importantly, they can show off their wines by pairing them with foods that make them shine. As you would expect, the meal, from antipasti to dolce, with two courses in between, was truly amazing, and one of the highlights of a month-long trip.
